As a Reception Desk Volunteer, you will greet residents’ family, friends and other visitors entering Algonquin Grace (Hospice Huntsville’s Residence). Responsibilities include answering and transferring telephone calls, receiving donations (in-person and over the phone), general tidying of the living and kitchen areas, administrative tasks and occasional assisting nursing with cooking requests (upon volunteer comfortability). No two days at Hospice are ever the same!
Reception coverage of the front desk is provided in daytime and evening shifts of 3 or 4 hours, 7 days a week. Shifts can be shared and are flexible in order to accommodate busy lifestyles.
SHIFT TIMES
Monday to Friday: 9 am to 1 pm 1 pm to 5 pm 5 pm to 8 pm
Saturdays & Sundays: 9 am to 1 pm 1 pm to 5 pm 5 pm to 8 pm
VOLUNTEER PORTAL & FILE
All Hospice Huntsville Volunteers utilize the Volunteer Portal to submit their hours and sign annual Offense Declaration and a Confidentiality Agreements.
VOLUNTEER SCHEDULE & SHIFT UPDATES
We value flexibility and collaboration. Scheduling process includes submitting your commitment and time off in advance for organizational purposes. Please ask your Volunteer Coordinator, Tracy Badger what this process looks like.
TRAINING & SUPPORT
Orientation: Each volunteer will receive an orientation in the way of 1 or more shadow shifts with another volunteer. During this shift the new volunteer will meet with the Volunteer Coordinator to review various policies and procedures and to sign off on documents.
Accessibility Training: Hospice Huntsville has an Accessibility Policy of which new volunteers will be made aware. All reception volunteers will take the Accessibility Course in order to be compliant with Accessibility legislation.
Semi-Annual Updates: Each year semi-annual meetings will be held (1 in-person and 1 via Zoom) to provide updates and education on topics of interest for all Reception Volunteers.
